One morning Miss Cross called all the children to come into school. I have something to say to you all she said. "This is Billy and he will be coming to our school. Please help him all you can." Billy soon found friends. They were called Tommy, Sue and Pat. "Where is your home?" Sue asked Billy. "You can can see it from here," he said. "Look! It's there," said Billy. "You can see it." "In the park?" asked Tommy. "Yes," said Billy. There where that big tent is?" asked Pat. "Is that your home with all the animals?" asked Sue. "Yes," said Billy. "Can we come and see it?" they asked. "Yes come and see the animals," said Billy. "We have monkeys and horses and a giraffe." "Oh yes," they all said. "We'll come." "I'll have to ask my mum," said Sue." "Me too," said Tommy and Pat. "Mum, please can we go with Billy to see the animals?" asked Sue. "Yes you can," she said. "Go and see the animals and then I'll come to take you all home." "Hello Dad," said Billy. "These are my friends." "Hello," said Dad. "It's good to see you all. I need your help. Bag and Ball the clowns went away this morning and they will not be coming back." "But they feed the animals," said Billy. "I want you to do it now Billy," said Dad. "We'll help you with the animals," said the children. "Thank you all," said Dad. "Here's the food." "I'll feed the monkeys," said Billy. So they went to feed the animals. Dolly was now with Dad. "I can't work," she said. "I can't go on the swing." "Oh no," said dad. "What can I do now? Now I have no clowns and no one to go on the swing with me," said Dad. "What can I do?" Let me go on the swing, Dad" said Billy. "I can do it and my friends can be your clowns." "Go on then Billy," said Dad. "Let's see if you can do it." "They all looked at Billy. "He is good on the swing," the children said. "Yes he is good," said Dad. "He can do it. Now let's see how funny you can be," said Dad. "Put these on Billy," and his Dad laughed at the children running about the tent. "I think they are all good clowns," said Dad. Soon Mum came to take Sue home. "Come on Sue. I have to take Pat and Tommy home too." "Oh no we don't want to go home," they all said. "Please let us be clowns." Lots of children came. They looked at Billy up on they swing with his Dad. He was good. And when they saw the clowns - how they laughed! But they didn't guess that the clowns were Tommy, Sue and Pat! |
