Cuttings root quite
easily if put in 1 inch squares of Oasis and kept damp. Before
long a root system develops, and the fuschia is then easily repotted
into a 3 inch pot of multi-purpose compost. Move into the
next size of pot when the roots show at the base of the pot.
Early in the season use a
high nitrogen ferilizer. When buds appear change to a high potash
fertilizer - either Chempak Fuchsia food or tomato fertilizer.
Overwintering: When
overwintering fuchsias keep them as dry as possible. Only water
sparingly and never allow compost to dry out completley.
Only plant out first
tender fuchsias whenever any possibility of frost has dissapeared -
generally after the end of May in the U.K.
Add water retaining
granules to hanging baskets.
Regularly remove dead
flowers to encourage new flowers. Pinching out will delay flowering.
As a general rule flowering will be delayed by:
Singles - 6 Weeks
Semi Doubles - 7 Weeks
Doubles - 8 Weeks
