![]() The Orange Lecture Every new Orange member (saved or lost) is personally informed when he joins the Orange Order that he is “one of the elect.” He is taught this in his introductory catechism. The Orange Order gives this false assurance to every single new candidate when they join the order, regardless of his spiritual state, assuring him that he is saved, saying: “What art thou? One of the elect! Of what house? The house of Israel! Of what tribe? The tribe of Levi!” It certainly doesn’t take a theologian to see the danger and error of such instruction. It is no wonder most Orangemen have no desire to be saved. (1) Every Orangeman is “one of the elect” because of his Lodge membership. There can be no doubt that this catechism gives a deceptive false hope / assurance to every new Orange candidate. One wonders what biblical authority the Orange Order think they have for promising every Orangeman (saved and unsaved) that he is“one of the elect” simply on the grounds that he has joined the Lodge? To teach this error to unsaved men is dangerous and deeply unscriptural and must therefore be strongly resisted and exposed by every Bible-believing Christian. Frankly, it gives the most depraved of carnal Christ-rejecters a title and a hope that does not remotely belong to them and offers them a false sense of assurance which Scripture clearly doesn’t allow. Isaiah 8:20 warns, “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” It is patently deceitful to propagate such misleading error. Moreover, not happy with deluding every candidate, with a rogue assurance, they then amazingly and indiscriminately elevate the candidate to the household of Israel and to the priestly tribe of Levi. It is amazing that a professing Christian could remotely believe that a man becomes “one of the elect” by simply joining the Orange Order. Moreover, it is startling to believe that he automatically becomes an Israelite and is then advanced to the priestly “tribe of Levi.” If that isn’t a blatant false hope / assurance, what is? Such teaching is (1) abhorrent, (2) a flagrant lie of the devil and (3) deeply unscriptural. Consequently, every truly saved Christian should stand against such error and call every professing out of such apostasy. Scripture solemnly warns, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight” (Isaiah 5:20-21). This British Israelism teaching emanates throughout Orange (and Loyal Orders) teaching. They are of the view that the Ulster Protestant people by their birth are “the elect” of “the house of Israel” of “the tribe of Levi.” What heretical nonsense!!! We are saved by grace not by race. The Ulster Protestant people (like every other nationality) are by nature (outside of the new-birth) doomed and damned to a Christless hell. How can the word “elect” be attributed to an unsaved human being, outside of salvation? This secret teaching is wrong and should be exposed. Also, how can you remotely compare the sanctified priestly role of the tribe of Levi in the Old Testament to the neo-Masonic nature and apostate character of the Orange Order. Galatians 1:9 succinctly says, “If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." This is plainly a false gospel.
