Congregationalists came to Ireland in the seventeenth century but made little impact until
the early nineteenth century. The setting up of the Irish Evangelical Society in 1814 resulted in many churches being built.
The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland holds some records for the church at Carrickfergus, which has baptism records from 1819 to the present, and has copies of records belonging to the church at Straid (CR/7).
