The Coalters

The
late Gerald Coalter took over the Horseshoe Bar in the middle sixties and
immediately he and his wife Joan began to develop it into a family
friendly place where everyone could congregate for a drink, a snack or a
meal. They brought to the Horseshoe a friendly chatty atmosphere and
a family who increasingly became more involved with the running of the
business. Joan and Gerald's two sons, Marshall and Norman, when they
had finished their degree courses, brought their talents to the business
and began to expand it so that it could cater for all classes at a wide
variety of levels.
Although
it has grown and now caters for the gourmet as well as the snacker
it still maintains that friendly, hospitable atmosphere, where one can
have a quiet drink, or enjoy the company of a wide variety of people
depending on the mood one is in or what a person requires within
their social dimension.
