This is my first attempt at a wheeled vehicle with rack and pinion steering. It also has bumpers. The steering direction is time-dependant, ie the longer the steering motor is on, the steeper the steering angle.

| Here, you can see the motor powering the pinion by an elastic band so that it can slip if overpowered. You can also see how a cam was used to press a switch when the steering rack was in the middle. To centre the wheels, the RCX instructs the motor to go left for 2 seconds (full lock),then right until the switch becomes pressed, then stop. |
