ArPee II

This is my second attempt at a wheeled vehicle with rack and pinion steering. Although it doesn't have ArPee I's bumpers, it does have a working spring suspension at each end! This time, the steering pitch is monitored by an angle sensor as is the distance travelled by the model.

I've removed the RCX and some of the chassis components to reveal how the angle sensors are connected to the motors and on to the drive and steering. As you can see, the steering and suspension units are loosely based on those in Lego kit #8865.

Here is some NQC 1.x code to make the car perform a 3-point turn (or "turn in the road" I think they call it these days). It may not be a lot of use unless you make an accurate replica of the car, but it might help to glean an understanding of how the steering and distance are controlled. It also shows how much code commenting rubs off on people in my line of work.
