Ballymena v Larne - Saturday 29th May 2004 |
|
Larne First XI, who are sponsored by the Curran Court , suffered two heavy defeats at the weekend when they were beaten by Ballymena and Armagh . On Saturday they were asked to bat first at Eaton Park and were bowled out for their lowest total in several years. Only skipper Trevor Dempsey made over 20 in their score of 77 all out. Michael Glass was the pick of the Ballymena bowlers taking 4 for 14 in 10 overs. His opening spell reduced Larne to 7 for 3 and they never recovered from this position. Douglas Griebenouw was the only other player to reach double figures (13) but once he was dismissed the rest of the order couldn't stay with Dempsey. In reply, Ballymena lost early wickets too as under 15 captain Eddie Hunter gave Larne some hope with three wickets. A dropped catch would have reduced Ballymena to 19 for 4 but from this position they recovered and did not lose another wicket as they chased Larne's total and finally knocked off the runs in the 26 th over. Hunter finished with figures of 3 for 12 from 6 overs. Scorecard :-
