Larne's third string progressed to the 3rd round of the Lindsay Minor Cup, with a comfortable 5 wicket win against Cooke Collegians at the Grammar School on Saturday. The visitors only managed to hit 124, before being dismissed in the 43rd over and 40 of this total came in a final wicket partnership, were Jeremy Burrows played very well. In reply Larne lost Stephen Church early on, but vice Captain Scott Allan played exceptionally well for 48, receiving excellent support from David Swan (33) and John Higgins with 21 who was caught on the boundary, going for six to win the match. Under 15 players Andrew King and John Hunter saw the game through for Larne. Earlier in the day, Young Ryan Hamill with four wickets through hostile bowling and thirteen year old off spinner Simon Scott, with two wickets, where the main wicket takers. Darren King also bowled well, while the fielding from this youthful side, with nine players under 21, was a big improvement on the previous matches.
