Larne v Waringstown - Saturday 19th June 2004

The Third eleven prevented a hat trick of quarter Final success for the Larne club this weekend, when they went down by three wickets to a strong Waringstown thirds at the Grammar School.

Sent into bat, Larne posted 156 all out, with Jonathan King, just falling short of his half century on 48.  David Swan made 22, while young opener Andrew King again impressed at the top of the order.  Larne's innings was stifled by the fact that three of their batsmen, including number three and four in the order were run out.

In reply, Waringstown where pushed all the way, with spinners veteran Michael Walker and fourteen year old birthday boy Simon King showing great skill. Jonathan King capped a fine performance with two wickets, while his younger brother Darren improves with every match.  David Swan rolled back the years, to when he used to open the bowling for the seconds (he was captain at the time), and his brand of slow off spin also accounted for one wicket, for only three runs.  The match ball was kindly sponsored by Larne Harbour Company.
