Player Profile for David Tweed

Name:
David Tweed
Age: 19
Nickname: Tweedy, Sallagh
Batsman/Bowler/All-rounder: Batsman, part-time bowler
Other teams played for: Northumbria Uni, Ballyclare High School
Debut (Date and Opposition): Played for U-15s up at North when I was 11, but for the 1sts, 2001 vs CIYMS when I was picked primarily for my bowling(!)
Highest Score: 70 vs Ballymena 2003
Best Bowling: 3 - 5 for the 2nds against PSNI in the cup
Favourite Opposition: Templepatrick, just love beating my old school pals
Least Favourite Opposition: Anyone that beats us, especially if it's Dunmurry or Carrick
Favourite Ground(s): For results, Cooke, claimed 2 unlikely victories there, otherwise probably Wallace Park or Civil Service
Least Favourite Ground(s): Dunmurry, are those clouds overhead a permanent fixture?
Career Highlight: Staying in section 2 on the last day of the season against Ballymena, bringing up my maiden 50 for the 1sts in 35 balls and helping ensure our survival
Career Low Point: Last 10 overs fielding at Laurelvale last season, batting performance against Carrick at Sandy Bay, and any one of my dropped catches (Pongo 2001 especially) all equally soul destroying
Best Player you played with: At Larne, despite all the abuse, Johnny Craig, but lets just say Keith Aiston is an exceedingly talented man
Best Player you played against: Wian Smit looked a class apart, and Z Ahmed's probably about the best bowler I've faced
How did you first get interested in cricket? Watching it on telly and messing about playing it in the back yard with my brother
Who have been the major influences on your career to date? “Mr LCC” Esler Burke for looking after everyone on the 3rds and 4ths when we were wee ‘uns, “Bucket” Michael Waterman for giving me a chance on the seconds, and the self proclaimed “god-child of LCC” Johnny Craig for consistently trying to hit the ball further than me whilst reminding me I couldn't lace his boots
Favourite Food: A good Ulster fry
Favourite Drink: Guinness
What was the most memorable match you have played in? Last game of 2003 season when we chased 245 to beat Ballymena and stay up and I knocked off a few brisk runs, just pips Stevie Gorman's ton up at Cooke to win the 2nds the league in 2001
What was the funniest thing you have seen in a cricket match? The infamous incident when Esler sent “Red Card” Rab McClean from the field, to mention one of many
What ambitions have you in cricket? To play in section 1 with Larne
What do you think of the current Larne side? Possibly the best group of players Larne's ever had playing together at any one time, but needs perform more consistently to it's potential to confirm status as best ever
