Under 15 Interprovincials 2003 Leinster v North West - Tuesday 1st July 2003 |
| The under 15 teams from the North West and Leinster regions started their Interprovincial campaign at Sandy Bay, Larne on Tuesday and it was the North West XI who were comfortable victors. They scored 145 for 5 in their 40 overs with the opening partnership of Christopher Dougherty and Jason Milligan putting on an impressive 82 for the first wicket. When both were dismissed North West captain Steven Moore, Stephen Clarke and Andrew Britton kept up the momentum and set Leinster a target of 146 to win. Most successful of the Leinster bowlers was Rory Allwright who picked up 2 wickets for 18 runs while Daniel Campion conceded only 15 runs from his 8 overs. A quiet start from Leinster in reply saw the run rate required increase steadily against accurate bowling from the North West opening pair of Andrew Britton and Gareth Donnell. Steven Moore kept the pressure on in a tight 4 over spell that only conceded 4 runs. As the batting became more frenetic, spinners Dean Curry and Simon Caulfield picked up 2 and 3 wickets apiece and the return of Britton and Moore sealed the game as they ended the Leinster innings in style picking up the last 3 wickets between them as the Leinster batting went from 82-4 to 99 all out at the end of the 37th over.
