One of
the most popular events was a "Ballyclare
in the Fifties Walk" organised by
Ballyclare and District Historical
Society. More than seventy people followed
a new History Trail launched by the Mayor
and led by Archie Reid recalling when the
town had two railway stations. a cinema in
Main Street and the largest paper mill in
Ireland.They crossed the river at a spot
which had been used four thousand years
ago by the first people in the
area.
