Captain's Notes
- 2000
It
is with great pleasure that I welcome all visiting teams and supporters
to North of Ireland Cricket Club in this my first year as Captain of the
2nd XI. This is no doubt an era in the clubs history where there is a
lot of sadness about the recent past yet at the same time loads of energy
and enthusiasm for the future and our newly formed relations with Collegians.
It is an honour for me to take over the reigns of Captain
from Ian, who has done a sterling job over the last couple of seasons.
Ian don't put your phone on exdirectory just yet ! The main focus of the
club will obviously be to get the 1st XI back up to the top flight where
they belong. To this end it is important that we create a competitive
2nd XI to put pressure on 1st team places and also offer good backup players
when required. This is of course equally important all the way through
the club with the 3rd XI and 4th XI.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the
sponsors and all non playing office bearers of the club. Without their
much needed and appreciated support playing cricket would be much more
difficult. May I finally wish all players and teams an enjoyable and successful
season ahead. Howzat
!
