CRICKET SECTION COMMITEE - 2000 / 2001

True Likeness ?? Name / Background Position

Eric Twadell Chairman

Eric has been been with the club for many years having played at various levels within the club. He was a member of the 1960 Double winning Centenary team. Has served in other administrative roles for the club since his playing days.

Andrew Babington Hon Secretary

Andrew McAskie Hon Treasurer

This is Andy's third year as treasurer for the cricket section, having succeeded David Heaney following the 1998 season. Has played cricket for the Club for 'a dozen years at least', spanning all positions in batting line-ups from No. 11 for the 4th XI to opening for the 1st XI (yes, they were very short that day). Claims his bowling career is on the up, having been reluctantly granted his second ever over last year (and this one only went for 6 !). Once handed a two year sentence as captain of the 3rds, during which time 'Captain Callous' gained a reputation for, diplomatic, uncompromising selection decisions.

Simon Corlett Club President

Simon is one who needs very little introduction to anyone in cricket. He has been with the club for a number of years having distinguished himself as a player for the club and also at International level with Ireland over a number of seasons.

Stephen Dyer 1st XI Team Captain

Stephen is entering into his second year as Captain of the 1st XI after a very successful start regaining promotion to section 1 in his first year. Will be keen to impress on his return to the top flight.

Trevor Dalzell 2nd XI Team Captain

Current Captain of the 2nd XI who has been with the club since 1994. Originally played with Brigade in the NorthWest before moving to Belfast. Has a coaching qualification. Trevor also developed and maintains this web site for the Cricket Section.

3rd XI Team Captain

4th XI Team Captain

Ricky Finlay Entertaiment

Ricky has been with the club for a few years and is a welcome addition to the committee. He is currently Vice Captain of the 2nd XI but has played regulary for the 1st XI as required.

Philip Black Youth Teams

A name synonymous with North seconds. Philip is a tireless worker within the club and looks after Boys cricket, amongst other things. He is also a qualified coach to youth level and assists with coaching in the club.

Neil McCaul

Neil has been with the club since 1995. He is a wicket keeper / batsman. Initially played with the seconds but has established himself as a first team regular last season. He is a very enthusiastic keeper who is never afraid to enquire about a dismissal !

John Law Co-opted member

Ex player with North at all levels who has been with the club for a long number of years. John has also served in various positions with the NCU including that of President. He like Eric, was a member of the 1960 Double winning Centenary team.

Brian Fitzgerald Co-opted member - PRO

Following a career in banking, Brian undertook the job of Secretary / Manager of the club for 7 and a half years. Upon his retirement he offered his services to the Cricket Section to assist with fundraising and publicity.

Wilfie is another who has been with the club for many years. He has served in several offices throughout his time. Former President, Club Hon Secretary, Rugby Hon Secretary and Cricket Hon Secretary (rugby and cricket being done at the same time !).
