In 1690 William of Orange met with his General Schomberg at The White House which is seen in the background of this painting by Sam McCrory©. The army landed here at a jetty where the 700 ships which had sailed up Belfast Lough were able to unload 35,000 men and weapons. William and his officers gathered at The White House to plan their strategy before the Battle of the Boyne.
