WELCOME TO THE ORIGINAL WHITE HOUSE

The White House is the oldest building in the Borough of Newtownabbey and is situated on Belfast Lough on the edge of the city. It was built in the sixteenth century and much of the building has survived. Abbey Historical Society has undertaken the challenge of restoring it to make it a centre for local history studies in this area of County Antrim

Abbey Historical Society was launched nine years ago with a programme of lectures, excursions and visits to historical sites. We have close ties with Ballyclare Historical Society, our partner in the Borough of Newtownabbey, which was founded 24 years ago. We have links with the 80 other societies in Ireland
