April Storm, the first purebred foal of National Broodmare Champion Silver Dawn, was accepted onto the RID register as a two year old when carrying her first foal. She was broken in the Autumn of her three year old year and was shown under saddle in the ridden hunter class at the RUAS as a four year old, taking third prize. She hunted during any season that she was not in foal and competed in dressage. She had an enviable record in the showring, having been National Broodmare Champion, and Reserve Supreme Champion at the Irish Draught Breed Show in 1990, twice Champion RID Broodmare at the Royal Dublin Society Horse Show in 1986 and 1988, twice Champion RID Broodmare Champion at the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society Spring Show, Leitrim Breeders Champion, Reserve Champion of the Kerrygold Championship in 1990 and winner of the Best Young Mare award at Millstreet in 1984 and winner of classes and championships too numerous to mention.

1990	carried twins by Heather Breeze (RID). Reared a filly successfully which grew into a cob ridden by a teenager in Pony Club activities
1992	My Hilltop Lady (RID) grey mare by Western Light (RID). Quality broodmare. Sold as a foal to David T White and Winner all-Ireland Irish Draught filly Championships as Yearling and Two year old. Also winner Limerick Lady Championship and Winner at the RDS and RUAS 1996. Reserve Champion Broodmare National Show 1997.
1993	Tullysilver (RID) grey mare by Western Light (RID). Winner in the showring including RUAS and Castlewellan. Sold to England at Tattersalls Irish Draught sale realising top price of the sale.
1994	Tully Road grey gelding by Standard Bearer (Tb). Sold broken and riding to England.
1995	Tullys Mist (RID) grey mare by Western Light (RID). Quality broodmare. Winner all-Ireland Irish Draught filly Championships as yearling and Two year old. Winner at RDS and at National Show 1999.
1996	Western Storm (RID) grey mare by Western Light (RID). Quality broodmare. Sold as a foal at Tattersalls Irish Draught sale realising top foal price of the sale. Winner in showring.
1997	Tullys Lass (RID) grey mare by Western Light (RID). Champion foal and Winner as a yearling at National Show. Dam of National Reserve Champion Foal  2003
1998	Tullys Dream (RID) grey mare by Western Light (RID). Sold as a foal to Miss Esther Skelly and placed third All-Ireland Irish Draught filly Championships and National show. Dam of National Champion Foal  2003

April Storm was a very striking and imposing mare standing about 16.3 hh. She was a superb mare to ride across the country and she passed her courage and ability on to her progeny. Her bloodline is continued in her daughters through the female line. She did not produce any purebred colts. The female line in this family is particularly strong. Her three parts sister, Tullys Triumph, by Western Light out of Silver Dawn, who has also been very successful in the showring has produced a large number of purebred and halfbred prize-winning fillies and colts.
